Penang Chief Minister wastes public money to gain fame

I urge the Chief Minister of Penang to stop using public money for his own personal gain. By using the newsletter, Bulletin Mutiara to gain more publicity and to enhance his fame, Lim Guan Eng is abusing his authority and carelessly wasting public resources.

In the Bahasa language May issue of Bulletin Mutiara, there were 51 photos of Lim Guan Eng, his wife, and his father, Lim Kit Siang. The family's photos were featured in nearly all the sections and could be seen in 28 pages of the magazine. Interestingly, no other opposition leaders were featured in the issue.

Magazine should be named in honour of favoured politician

As reported in The Star (28 June 2012), blogger Helen Ang pointed out that Lim Guan Eng and his family were favoured by Bulletin Mutiara more than any other Pakatan leaders and their family. According to research done by The Star, out of the 28 pages in the magazine that had photos of Lim Guan Eng and his family, the average number of times that Lim Guan Eng's photo appeared on a page was 3 times. Surprisingly, there was 1 page that consisted of 7 pictures of him.

Since the entire newsletter seems to be devoted to profiling Lim Guan Eng and his family, it should seriously consider changing its name to Bulletin Guan Eng dan Keluarga. Then it could carry its agenda of political publicity more openly. If the newsletter does this, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng will be the idol of Penang in no time.
