PANAS :KALAU SETAKAT BANGKANG KONSERT BUKANNYA TALIBAN...TAPI PONDAN....

Study: Canadian Employers Prefer Job Seekers with English-Sounding Names

By Eddy Lok TORONTO, 29 OCTOBER, 2011: Thousands of recent immigrants to Canada are struggling in the job market, facing significant discrimination from job recruiters and employers who prefer English-sounding names when it comes to calling applicants for an interview, according to a study. Applications with an English or Canadian name received callbacks 40 per cent more often than applicants with Chinese, Indian or Pakistani names even though they have considerable amount of experience and the right qualifications, the study says. Researchers Professor Philip Oreopoulos and Professor Diane Dechief of the University of Toronto, who co-authored "Why do employers discriminate against immigrant job applicants?" said non-English names often draw stereotypes. Citing new evidence from major Canadian cities like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, they said: "One of the most striking results from this work is the substantial difference in callback rates as a result of simply chan

Pemohon Suaka Politik Atau Puaka Politik ?

In

Audit Bongkar Pembohongan Guan Eng

Valuer: Incomplete build reason for RM3.5m Khir mansion price

Image
A general view of the entrance to Dr Khirs mansion in Shah Alam. File pic SHAH ALAM, Oct 31 Unfinished building construction was the reason why Dr Mohamad Khir Toyos mansion and land was valued at RM3.5 million, the former Selangor mentri besars corruption trial was told today. Choy Yue Kwong, a valuer from Rahim & Co that had been appointed by HSBC to value the price of Dr Mohamad Khirs palatial home, testified that even RM 5.5 million was too high a value to put on the mansion. He said that there was no reason why anyone should overpay [for] property, especially a house that was not yet fully constructed. Responding to a query from defence lawyer Datuk Jahabardeen Mohamed Yunoos, Choy said that anyone who saw Khirs mansion at the time of purchase and still bought it any amount beyond RM5 million was not a prudent buyer. What I saw at sight was a house under construction...I valued the property as how it is, assuming that it was not completed, said the defence witness, who testi

Court rules UUCA Section 15(5)(a) violates freedom of expression

PUTRAJAYA: A landmark Court of Appeal decision ruled Monday that Section 15(5)(a) of the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 (UUCA) is unconstitutional and violates freedom of expression. It overturned by a majority decision of the Kuala Lumpur High Courts decision which had declared the restrictions under the section as constitutional as the section allowed public universities to take disciplinary action against the students. The appelate court allowed the appeal by four former Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia students who had sought a declaration that the UUCA is constitutional. The students were arrested by police during the Hulu Selangor by-election in April last year and later faced disciplinary proceedings initiated by UKM on July 4 this year. They were found not guilty by the university board. The students then sought a court declaration that Section 15(5)(a) was unconstitutional. The students argued that Article 119 of Federal Constitution specifically states that every

MCA will continue to expose the truth-MCA Youth Secretary-General

Press Statement by MCA Youth Secretary-General Dato Chai Kim Sen MCA will continue to expose the truth The statement made by DAP President Karpal Singh in Sin Chew Daily today accusing MCA of misleading the people by using hudud laws as an issue so that MCA may win back the seats lost in the 2008 General Elections is nonsensical. As a party which represents the Chinese community, MCA has the responsibility to remind the people and to tell them the truth, and not to keep avoiding or to refrain from responding to the issue. MCA will never keep quiet on issues which are potentially harmful to the welfare of the Chinese community. Regardless of MCAs fate in the future, the most important thing now is to let the people know that once Pakatan Rakyat takes over the federal government, it is most probable that the president of PAS will become the Prime Minister, and that the legislation of Malaysia will be challenged as PAS seeks to form an Islamic state. The people must understand the percept

Anwar Ibrahim Resah Dengan Tawaran RM 3 Juta Ringgit

Press statement by MCA Youth National Chairman cum Deputy Minister of Education Datuk Dr Ir Wee Ka Siong MCA Youth welcomes Appeal Court ruling on AUKU Section 15(5)(A) shouldnt have been inserted in the first place! MCA Youth welcomes the recent judgement by the Court of Appeal in finding that Section 15(5)(A) of the Universities and Universities Colleges Act or better known by its acronym AUKU in Bahasa Malaysia is unconstitutional and violates freedom of expression. In overturning the High Court ruling, the Appeals Court has demonstrated the independence of the judiciary as well as upholding our Federal Constitution. This gives the Opposition something to ponder about since Pakatan Rakyat parties have thrown doubt unto the independence of the Malaysian judiciary. One of the resolutions passed during this years MCA Youth Annual General Meeting called for the abolition of Section 15 of AUKU to return the right to freedom of assembly and association to university students. This is con
