While MCA works to defend Chinese education vs DAP only knows how to blabber away
The meeting between MCA leaders and representatives of the 78 national type secondary schools or better known as SMJKs to obtain their views and feedbacks is proof that MCA places great importance in the field of Chinese education. MCA has come a long way in promoting and seeing towards the development of Chinese schools which indicates that our party has shouldered the responsibility of Chinese education.
MCA defends the use of mother–tongue in education, and in the past one year and a half has made many achievements, including the relocation of 13 Chinese primary schools (SJKCs), the construction of 7 new SMJKs and successfully obtaining an RM75million allocation from the federal government, and recommending that the funds be directly channeled to the school board.
MCA alone has contributed much to education and through MCA's efforts, a number of groundbreaking accomplishments were achieved last year alone, such as the government's acceptance of MCA recommendations that Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) holders be allowed to enter teacher training colleges, that Chinese Independent school students are eligible to apply for PTPTN loans, and the awarding of the 1MDB scholarships which comes without bond to 50 top UEC students during Merdeka day this year which eventually which will be done annually.
At the same time, MCA is working towards identifying students who are eligible to enter diploma programmes in national universities.
In addition, MCA also focuses on cultivating talents and promoting quality education, as well as providing scholarships and loans, including the 1MCA Education Loan Scheme and the Chang Ming Thien Foundation, in order to allow multiracial students from poor families to continue their studies.
MCA is also in the midst of continuing our co-operation with six Taiwanese universities to offer vocational classes to Malaysian students and the Taiwanese Education Ministry will waive the tuition fees of our students.
Although MCA may not be perfect, we have been improving and progressing, and MCA has done its best to put theory into actions, to maintain and develop Chinese education. MCA has never neglected the people, unlike some political parties which only know how to curse.
DAP has won the support of the voters, but so far we have yet to see them fulfill their promises, especially in Penang and Selangor which have yet to allocate a single piece of land to schools. Although they keep saying that allocation for vernacular school funding should be more systematic and they keep calling for the recognition of the UEC, yet no such commitment has been stated in their Buku Jingga.
