KUALA LUMPUR, Monday 30 August 2010 (Bernama) -- Former Putrajaya Corporation director Datuk Shahoran Johan Ariffin was acquitted and discharged by the Sessions Court here of a charge of receiving a bribe in the form of an air ticket to London.

Judge Rosbiahanin Ariffin made the decision after the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against Shahoran.

The Court also acquitted and discharged the accused of an alternative charge.

Shahoran, 58, allegedly accepted the RM3,022 ticket from contractor Yaacob Hassan in return for giving the Taman Putra Perdana landscaping contract to Fortress Synergy Sdn Bhd, owned by Yaacob through Kenas Prima Sdn Bhd.

He allegedly committed the offence when he was Putrajaya Corporation's landscape and public parks division director.

Shahoran was also given an alternative charge for allegedly accepting the ticket from Yaacob with the knowledge that Fortress Synergy was involved in his official dealings.

The accused was represented by lawyer Raja Sharafina Raja Shuib while Deputy Public Prosecutor Abdul Ghaffar Abdul Latif prosecuted.
