Parliamentary coordinator gives away calendars during walkabout

KELANA Jaya parliamentary coordinator Ong Chong Swen and her team have been on a walkabout to distribute 20,000 copies of 2013 table calendars to residents of Subang Jaya and Seri Setia.

Ong said the distribution, which started on Dec 6, will be continued until all of the calendars were handed out.

The walkabout also served as an opportunity to meet the people and receive feedback on various issues.

"I was touched by the warmth of the urban folks, who offered drinks to my team and invited us to join a wedding reception as we went about distributing the calendars," said Ong.

"I have been distributing table calendars since 2009 and some residents have come to expect it as a tradition.

"Some were happy to meet us on our walkabout as they could approach us and give us their views on issues affecting them."

Ong said the people needed time to evaluate and understand the Government's transformation programmes, and hoped that more people-oriented projects and policies that would benefit the rakyat would be implemented in the coming year.

Besides listing public holidays and school holidays, Ong said the table calendars also featured contact numbers for the three local councils in Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam, as well as the contact details of the six police stations and a fire station in Subang Jaya.
