MCA deputy president and Selangor MCA head Datuk Donald Lim visited i-City in Shah Alam recently to check on the progress of preparations for the "Karnival Sayangi Selangor" to be held there from today until Dec 31.

He was pleased with work on the Golden Coin Tree display which would be lit up to display auspicious messages.

According to Chinese folklore, those who touch the tree will be blessed with good luck, success and prosperity.

"The carnival will feature a cheongsam show as well as lion dance, traditional drums and calligraphy competitions with cash prizes of up to RM8,000 for each category." said Lim.

The three-day event will include a job fair, extreme sports, marathon, brass band performances, concert and a fireworks display at the end of the New Year countdown.

"Job seekers should not miss the opportunity to gather information during the exhibition and visitors can also usher in the New Year with while enjoying the many activities organised," said Lim.

Events are open free to the public. Additionally, car park charges and entry to the Trick Art Museum will be waived for the three days, while the WaterWorld is open free for public preview from 7pm on Dec 31.
