PAS Youth slammed

PETALING JAYA: PAS Youth has come under fire from a Selangor NGO for its protest against the MCA over the hudud issue.

Gagasan Anti Penyelewengan Selangor (GAPS) president Hamidzun Khairuddin said the wing's rally outside the MCA headquarters last week was uncalled for as non-Muslims were not subjected to syariah rules.

He said PAS Youth's action was "like the Taliban", saying this was because it was trying to subject non-Muslims to syariah laws, particularly hudud.

PAS Youth had staged the protest to demand an apology from MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek for his comments on PAS' hudud.

PAS Youth secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil had claimed that Dr Chua had "gone overboard" when he said 1.2 million people would be jobless if hudud was implemented in the country.

Hamidzun reminded PAS Youth that the Quran clearly stated that there was no compulsion when it comes to religion.

He chided PAS Youth for criticising the MCA but keeping mum over DAP chairman Karpal Singh's criticisms against hudud.

"This is unreasonable and it goes to show that they (PAS Youth) practise double standards as they do not question their ally on the same subject."
