DAP lawmakers should emulate Karpal’s 1 candidate, 1 seat call

DAP lawmakers should emulate Karpal's 1 candidate, 1 seat call
In wake of the DAP chairman's call that his fellow party members should adhere to his "1 candidate 1 seat" policy, it comes as no surprise that once again Karpal Singh rides alone. This stalwart was the sole lone ranger in openly disputing PAS' insistence to introduce PAS hudud law should Pakatan wrestle federal office. It is also a known fact that his party colleagues would relegate his objections to PAS hudud law a mere "personal opinion."
This time round, DAP lawmakers who are incumbents at both the federal and state level are openly at odds with him in their reluctance to relinquish defending either one of the Parliament or state seat they concurrently wield for the 13th general election.
Lure of added allowances reason for DAP wakil rakyat's hesitance?
Considering that DAP legislators receive additional salaries and allowances according to each of the legislative seat they hold, DAP wakil rakyats should sincerely ask themselves the real reason for clinging on to both federal and state positions. Could a drop in monthly salaries and allowance be the determining factor?
Focus on needs of one constituency
DAP members of Parliament and state Assemblymen should emulate their Chairman's example and contest in one seat. This will enable them to give fullest attention, thus effectiveness to their electorates be it at the Parliament or state seat, rather than being pro-occupied with one constituency above another, or mixing up national and state issues.
Considering that DAP elected representatives have been and are unable to address the needs, or fulfill their pledges of their respective electorates be it at national or state level, how will they be able to concentrate on being rakyat-oriented at both federal and state levels simultaneously?
Lack of candidates signs of DAP's waning influence
If DAP or Pakatan are so influential or popular among the masses as they lead the public to believe, and have even announced the new membership of individuals they deem as public figures, then it should not be a problem to identify candidates, youths and even new faces to contest Parliament and state assembly seats separately.
Apart from a reduced monthly remuneration, perhaps DAP echelons' averseness to abiding by their Chairman's "1 candidate, 1 seat" proposal is due to self-awareness that there are simply insufficient suitable candidates to nominate, and this scenario stems from supporters having ditched DAP.
