Pakatan’s promises are empty ones, says Tee Yong

LABIS: Pakatan Rakyat's many promises since the last general election have turned out to be empty lies, MCA Young Professionals bureau chief Datuk Chua Tee Yong said.

He said that although the Penang and Selangor governments announced high surpluses, they failed to honour their promises.

Chua said Selangor had failed to provide special allowances for single mothers and reduce assessment tax on residential and commercial properties as stated in its 2008 general election manifesto, while Penang had promised to introduce free parking on weekends and demolish the Sungai Nyior Toll Plaza.

"Why did they fail to deliver their promises if they have such a high surplus?

"Is this because they worry that they may face bankruptcy if those promises are implemented?" the Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister told reporters after performing a ground-breaking ceremony for SJK(C) Tenang here yesterday.

Chua said Pakatan's failure to fulfil its promises even at the state level had cast doubts on its overall capabilities and ability to abolish the PTPTN loans and toll, reduce the price of oil and ensure all families received a minimum RM4,000 monthly income as it had targeted.

"Pakatan should be responsible for the promises it makes and not mislead the people," he added.

Chua also said a systematic annual allocation to all Chinese primary schools based on the number of pupils as suggested by the Opposition would cause some 400 schools with low enrolment to be deprived of financial aid.

"Allocations should be distributed based on their respective needs than on the number of pupils," he added.
