PetroSaudi honoured to fly back Malaysians from Egypt, says CEO

RIYADH, Feb 8 PetroSaudi International said tonight it was honoured to contribute two Boeing 747s to fly back hundreds of Malaysian students stranded in crisis-hit Egypt.PetroSaudi CEO Tarek E. Obaid said in a statement that the gesture by the Saudi giant demonstrated its continued commitment to Malaysia.In the statement, he said, In the spirit of the special historic ties between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, PetroSaudi has leased two Boeing 747s from the Saudi Arabian Airlines Private Aviation to bring back home to Kuala Lumpur hundreds of Malaysian students who were stranded in crisis-hit Egypt.Earlier on in the week, the Saudi leadership granted a special permission to Malaysian humanitarian flights to use the Hajj terminal at the King Abdul Aziz international airport as the main hub to carry out their evacuation flights from Cairo to the safety of Jeddah.The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz were instrumental in giving their respective directives to facilitate and provide all the necessary support to the government of Prime Minister Najib Abdulrazak to diligently fulfil the delicate mission of evacuating over 11,000 Malaysian students from Cairo international airport in very difficult circumstances, he added.Obaid pointed out the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is known as the Humanitarian Kingdom for having established one of the worlds largest foreign aid programmes.As the cradle of Islam and home to the worlds largest oil reserves, it is no surprise that the Saudi Arabian government would demonstrate such kindness and generosity to a fellow Muslim country as important as Malaysia.In following the directives and guidelines set by the numerous honourable stances that the Saudi leadership has had over the years, PetroSaudi decidedto finance two special humanitarian flightsto also demonstrate the strong bonds that exist between theprivate sectors of both countries, he added.Obaid said that the gesture, made on behalf o! f the sh areholders and myself, demonstrates PetroSaudis continued commitment to Malaysia.Furthermore, PetroSaudi is simply followingon a much smaller scalethe culture of giving that the Kingdom is known for around the world, especially to fellow Muslim countries. We, at PetroSaudi, are honoured to be able to take part in such an endeavour, he added.Datuk Seri Najib Razak had declared yesterday the evacuation project dubbed Operation Pyramid a success and said the evacuation of all Malaysians in Egypt complete.
