Leaders praise and pray for security forces’ safety

PETALING JAYA: As the country's security forces continue to defend Sabah, Barisan Nasional leaders are voicing their support and praying for the personnel's safety.

Leading the way is Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who had tweeted twice, the first going out at 12.28pm.

In Bahasa Malaysia, the Prime Minister stressed that the Government would not let anyone undermine the nation's sovereignty.

He also rallied Malaysians to stand firm in supporting the country's security forces.

Two minutes later, he tweeted, saying he was thankful that the operations against the Sulu armed group had gone smoothly and that a door-to-door operation was being carried out.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek tweeted: "Congratulations to our security forces in Sabah for a successful operation carried out in protecting our nation's sovereignty."

MCA vice-president Gan Ping Sieu sent his highest regards to the armed forces.

"No one wants bloodshed, but peace and order must not be compromised," he tweeted.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tweeted in Bahasa Malaysia that the situation was calm on both sides.

He urged Malaysians to pray for the success of the country's armed forces and added that they were protected by Allah.

Kota Belud MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan tweeted that "going to Parliament for a special session is the last thing on my mind".

"Right now I just want to be with the people of Lahad Datu," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir called upon all Malaysians, regardless of their political leanings, to come together in support of the Government's efforts in the Lahad Datu standoff.

He said now was not the time for Opposition leaders to criticise or politicise the issue, as it involved national security.

He said Perak PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin's allegation that the Government was slow in channelling accurate information on what is happening in Lahad Datu to the rakyat was irresponsible and uncalled for.
