Teng accused of being partial to Pakatan
PETALING JAYA: Selangor State Assembly speaker Datuk Teng Chang Kim has been accused of being biased in sending out a text message to Pakatan Rayat representatives informing them on what topics to be raised in the assembly.
Sungai Pelek MCA assemblyman Yap Ee Wah said Teng had sent the SMS to only the Pakatan assemblymen urging them to take part in the debate on the achievements attained by Pakatan.
"As Speaker, Teng should not be partial. Such actions must be soundly criticised.
"He cannot simply send out SMSes to exco members unless he was directed to by the Mentri Besar," he said in a statement yesterday.
Yap said Barisan Nasional representatives were not given an opportunity to voice their protests.
Six Barisan assemblymen walked out of the assembly sitting on Monday after learning about Teng's SMS.
Teng said he had sent the text message during the tea break after some exco members had sought his advice on what to say during their winding-up speeches.
It was reported that he had advised Pakatan representatives to speak about the state government's good deeds as touched by exco member and Kota Anggerik assemblyman Yaakob Sapari.
