Health carnival for women

THE Selangor Wanita MCA and Eu Yan Sang organised their first health carnival for the year recently.

The one-day carnival held at the healthcare and traditional Chinese medicine specialist centre in SS2, Petaling Jaya was specially designed to cater for women living in the area.

Everybody gets one: Chew (right) handing out goodie bags to those present at the health fair.

"Women are always busy and often do not have time to go for health checks," said Selangor Wanita MCA chairman Chew Lee Giok.

Chew said with such an event she hoped to see more women of all ages participating and knowing more of their body's condition as well as how to treat it better.

The event held from 8am to 6pm was also the first of seven similar health carnivals to be hosted in Selangor.

Freebie: Visitors can participate in various health checks at the carnival.

The other events will be held at Puchong, Selayang, Kajang, Rawang, Klang and Shah Alam, she said.

Participants who registered at the counters went through a free check on body mass index, bone density, blood pressure and blood test.

They were also treated to a cooking demonstration and a food-tasting session.
