Engineering student receives Murata scholarship

UNIVERSITI Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) industrial engineering student Lim Boon Kiat (second from right) receiving the Murata Scholarship Award from Murata Electronics managing director Yoshihiro Tanaka (left) at the company's Batu Gajah production base.

Boon Kiat, a second year Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Industrial Engineering student, said the RM30,000 scholarship would greatly reduce his financial burden.

"Having gone through two stringent rounds of the selection process, I am on cloud nine knowing that I am a recipient of this prestigious award," he said, adding that he would be bonded to Murata for three years after graduation.

Congratulating Boon Kiat, Tanaka expressed hope that the scholarship would drive more students to take up studies in the field of industrial engineering.
