Felda bankrupt report: Suara Keadilan gets one-week deadline

PUTRAJAYA: PKR organ Suara Keadilan has been given seven days from today to explain a report carried in it that said conglomerate Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) was bankrupt.

Home Ministry secretary-general Mahmood Adam said besides this, Suara Keadilan had also been asked to explain its failure to reply to three show-cause letters issued to it in January, February and April.

The deadline for the latter is 5pm tomorrow with the replies to be delivered to the Home Ministry's office here.

"Among the actions that we can take if they fail to observe these directives is suspending the paper or cancelling its permit," he told reporters at his office here today.

Earlier, he had met Dzulkarnain Taib, the editor of Suara Keadilan, over the Felda report which appeared on the front page of its June 21-29, 2010, edition.

The three earlier letters was due to the failure on the part of Suara Keadilan to supply the ministry eight copies of each of its edition.
