Manifesto Rakyat attractive but not pragmatic: Pakatan has no sincerity to ensure its implementation

There are many contradictions contained in the Manifesto Rakyat for Pakatan to be able to achieve its goal. They do not have a clear concept and their Manifesto is designed to fish for votes.

On one hand, Pakatan talks about improving urban and inter-city public transportation system while on the other hand, they speak about lowering car and oil prices. To put it bluntly, these two policies contradict each other because enhancing the public transportation system is to encourage the rakyat to utilize public transport. However, in promising to reduce car and oil prices, this effectively encourage people to purchase more private vehicles. Once car owners have more private cars of their own, is there is a need to upgrade the public transportation system? Who then will rely on public transport?

What is glaringly obvious from the Manifesto Rakyat is that Pakatan has lost the aim of their struggles. This is evidenced when they are unable to fulfill or implement the contents of the Manifesto Rakyat which is populist-driven. Pakatan fails to indicate with specific details on how they intend to implement their pledges.

Pakatan is able to churn out attractive promises, but in fact, these pledges should be implemented in the four states they govern. However, Pakatan offers a lame excuse that these promises can only be implemented only after they have seized the federal government. This is irresponsible of them and further proves that the Pakatan pact hold no intention to practise these policies, conveniently disregarding them to secure more ballots.

Reneged promises by PKR-led Selangor state government

During the 2008 general election campaign, the then Barisan Alternatif had bandied promises of reducing residential assessment rates by 20%, allowances for single mothers, resolving the high voltage tension towers in Rawang within 100 days, financial aid for pre-schoolers, students offered places in universities, insurance premiums for senior citizens and people with disabilities. But all these pledges were breached. If the Pakatan-helmed Selangor state administration cannot even implement their GE promises, how will Pakatan implement their Manifesto Rakyat as a whole for the country?

As Pakatan's Manifesto Rakyat does not contain any detailed description on its implementation, and neither is a timetable for its implementation shown, if Pakatan ever captures Putrajaya, they can deploy any excuse to delay delivering their promises, until every policy becomes too late to even consider introducing.
