Guidelines outlawing "sexy performers" shows DAP's status within Pakatan diminished
DAP coming up with guidelines to ban "sexy performers" at their dinner functions shows that they hold no power nor status within Pakatan. If even for their own dinner functions, DAP has no say over the attire of the artistes, DAP will not have any rights at all to speak on any other major matters.
Venting out: A group of Telemong residents staging a protest on Wednesday, voicing their displeasure that a singer was forced to stop her performance during the Nov 17 dinner (inset). They held the protest in front of Telemong new village development and security committee office in Bentong.
DAP is powerless against PAS. Even when DAP chairman Karpal Singh raised objection, PAS insists on implementing PAS hudud enactments, and even PKR de facto President Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim has openly agreed with PAS' agenda. In addition, on the issue of which Pakatan leader would be the candidate for Prime Minister, neither PAS nor PKR sought the views of DAP. This indicates that DAP's position within Pakatan is easily dispensable.
Lim Guan Eng recently provoked controversy calling that the terminology "Allah" should be allowed in the Malay Bible. However, after being chastised by PAS, Guan Eng immediately did a U-turn on his earlier statement, clarifying that it applied only for Sabah and Sarawak. DAP switches its positions, and will quickly abandon its principles to yield to PAS.
DAP has claimed that all three Pakatan parties share equal footing. However, the fact remains that DAP is powerless within Pakatan. They do not even have the power to have a different opinion. If even on a trivial topic of performers at their party dinners, they now draw up guidelines barring "sexy performers", DAP will fail to push through or mediate in major policies.
DAP should educate the rakyat that PAS hudud enactments have deeply affected the lives and freedoms of non-Muslims as proven from past incidents. This is the true face of DAP leaders. They will not hesitate to pawn the rights of non-Muslims for political gain.
