DAP's proposed guidelines for performers indicates they drop their own principles to curry favour with PAS

The proposal by DAP National Organising Secretary Antony Loke that guidelines be drawn for performers during DAP events whereby performers with inappropriate attire are to be banned shows that DAP has conformed to PAS's values by coming up with dress codes for attire and performances of artistes at their own DAP functions.

This is further evidence that DAP is in an awkward position within Pakatan whereby they have succumbed to pressure from PAS and thus have to "sterilize" their own dinner programmes just to comply with PAS' backward values in order to be in the good books of the Islamist party.

Venting out: A group of Telemong residents staging a protest on Wednesday, voicing their displeasure that a singer was forced to stop her performance during the Nov 17 dinner (inset). They held the protest in front of Telemong new village development and security committee office in Bentong.

If the Telemong incident of performers being forced off the stage during a DAP dinner as PAS guests were uncomfortable with their attire had not happened, would Antony Loke have called for a prohibition against such performances? This shows DAP's timidity in face of PAS.

Does DAP intend to forbid artistes' performances during party dinners, and any other events in all states governed by the Pakatan coalition, or when DAP invites PAS leaders to their annual Congress? Will DAP then have to specify to their own DAP female members that they are barred from wearing lipstick or knee length skirt just to toe the line of PAS President Dato' Seri Hadi Awang's goal to establish PAS hardline values?

I wish to suggest that before DAP draws up guidelines for functions, they should first consult PAS and get the endorsement from PAS' leadership before tabling them in DAP's own Central Executive Committee meetings for their approval. This is to ensure that PAS will never again interfere and insist on an abrupt halt to any performances at dinners hosted by the Pakatan allies. As these guidelines will be implemented by the DAP Central Executive Committee, this will also ensure that any performances during Pakatan functions do not violate but are in full compliance with PAS' extremist values.
