Memory tips at festival
PETALING JAYA: Visitors to The Malaysia Festival of the Mind next month will learn to improve their memory – vital for a successful leader, said Univesiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) council chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.
"Do you know how much good it has done for me in politics, remembering the names of a lot of MCA members?
"They are very pleased when I remember their names … because to any person, his name is the most precious thing," said Dr Ling, who once helmed the MCA for over a decade.
Visitors to the Malaysia Festival of the Mind VIII will also hear from S. Jeyaraman and Anant Kasibhatla.
Jeyaraman is a Buzan licensed instructor while Anant is an international speaker who is the National Record Holder for Memory in India.
The festival is organised by Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement, Utar and Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman (KTAR).
Another highlight is a chance to learn more about hypnosis from South African Terry Winchester, who also happens to be a holistic beekeeper.
After attending talks and workshops on interesting topics such as "Mastering your future" by Joey Yap and "Unleash the Secret of Your Brain!" by SK Tan, visitors can visit the exhibition area to stand a chance to win a new Samsung Galaxy Note at a lucky draw that will be held on the last day of the festival.
The festival will be on June 16 to 17 at the KTAR main campus in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, and on June 23 to 24 at the Utar Heritage Hall in Kampar, Perak.
The festival is open from 10am to 5pm and admission to all talks and workshops are free (except for the Mensa IQ test).
However, visitors are encouraged to register for special talks by Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen (in Kuala Lumpur) and Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung (in Kampar).
