MCA will continue to expose the truth

The statement made by DAP President Karpal Singh in Sin Chew Daily today accusing MCA of misleading the people by using hudud laws as an issue so that MCA may win back the seats lost in the 2008 General Elections is nonsensical. As a party which represents the Chinese community, MCA has the responsibility to remind the people and to tell them the truth, and not to keep avoiding or to refrain from responding to the issue.

MCA will never keep quiet on issues which are potentially harmful to the welfare of the Chinese community. Regardless of MCAs fate in the future, the most important thing now is to let the people know that once Pakatan Rakyat takes over the federal government, it is most probable that the president of PAS will become the Prime Minister, and that the legislation of Malaysia will be challenged as PAS seeks to form an Islamic state.

The people must understand the perception and the stand which DAP has taken towards PASs intentions to implement hudud laws and to set up an Islamic state. If hudud laws are indeed implemented, how will the non-Muslims be affected? How is DAP going to protect the rights of the Chinese community and the non-Muslims?

DAP has been telling lies, creating stories in a bid to fool the people. They say that hudud law will not be part of the Pakatan Rakyat agenda, but yet we still see Islamic law being implemented all around us.

We know the facts, and they are contrary to what has been said by them. Kelantan is now implementing hudud laws, but DAP is yet to speak up for the non-Muslims there and have refused to leave Pakatan Ra! kyat.

MCA does not expect DAP to leave Pakatan Rakyat to show objection to hudud laws, neither does MCA expect PAS to give up hudud laws for DAPs behalf. Both parties are merely working together for their own personal benefits. If the so called benefit of one party is harmful to the community, the people who had trusted and supported them will be the biggest loser.

I wish to reiterate that MCA will not give up on defending the interest of the people, and any attempt to mislead the people and to do away with the rights of non-Muslims must be addressed at once. MCA will always work to reveal the truth to the people and will expose the lies of the opposition.
