Young entrepreneurs to get easier access to funds, says Husni

October 29, 2010

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 29 — The government is taking steps to make access to funds easier for young entrepreneurs, said Second Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.

“We acknowledge the creativity and innovative skills of our young entrepreneurs and the potential of their contributions to our common future.

“Start-ups are important component of a vibrant economy. We want to unleash their energy, your energy, by making sure that your access to funds will be easier than ever before,” he said at the launch of Asia-Pacific Young Business Conference and Trade 2010 (APYBC) here today.

Ahmad Husni said young entrepreneurs should now constantly seek opportunities as by 2015 it was estimated that almost three-quarters of global growth would come from the emerging and developing countries.

“There has never been a time in our modern history where we are more in control of our destiny than we are now,” he said.

He said during the 1990s the contribution of the emerging and developing economies to the world’s gross domestic product averaged 40 per cent.

“This has grown to 58 per cent between 2000 and 2007,” he said.

Thus, Ahmad Husni said, the Asian renaissance was no longer a pipe dream.

“The fulfilment of that dream now lies in the hands of all young people.

“This century belongs to you,” he said.

Also present were Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry and patron of APYBC, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir and organising chairman, Agil Faisal Ahmad Fadzil. — Bernama
