KUIN employers shortchanging salaries of their staff?

As a result of PAS' fiscal mismanagement, KUIN employees appear to have been "underchanged" in their salaries and students have been oppressed by unreasonably high fees. Tuition fees for students were recently hiked from RM60 to a whopping RM200. In addition, as reported in the New Straits Times (28 June 2012), KUIN staff have lodged police reports about deductions in their salaries that never reached their creditors.

As the leading party in Kedah government, PAS has the duty to be transparent and prudent in all financial matters in state-owned KUIN. I strongly urge PAS-led KUIN management to review all their recent fiscal transactions and ensure that all KUIN staff receive the proper payments that they deserve.

PAS guilty of poor management and lack of fiscal transparency

PAS leaders' ability and capability with regard to responsibility of handling money are in grave doubt. It splurged RM350m to build KUIN's campus, disregarded the state's financial strength. Kedah residents and KUIN students are forced to bear the burden from that poor managerial decision to this day.

In its Kedah Sejahtera Nikmat Semua manifesto, PAS promises to prepare interest free loans for government staff. In reality, due to the non-payment of loans by KUIN despite deducting their staffs' salaries, employees have not been able to pay back their loans. A KUIN administrative officer says that he was threatened by the bank to declare bankruptcy if he does not settle his loan payments, which was supposed to be paid back by the government through deductions in his salary. KUIN staff have been very concerned about their livelihoods, but obviously the PAS-led state goverment has neglected its responsibility to KUIN employees.

Thrust 2 of the PAS 2008 general elections Manifesto says PAS promises to provide prudent financial and transparent management of the economy. Clearly, this has not been the case in KUIN, where hardearned money of Kedahans (taxes hiked),students and staff are poorly managed. Thus Once again, PAS leaders demonstrate their incapacity to deliver promises and failed the people.
