KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 A man who told his lawyer he works in the Prime Ministers Office taking care of projects is being sued for cheating a sand-mining company of RM250,000, the High Court here heard today.

Lawyer for Johor-based firm, Nice Garden Sdn Bhd, Mohammad Fauzi Abdullah, told the court that one Datuk Seri Hasan Ayoub had introduced himself as the PMs special officer in charge of political affairs when courting the company for a joint-venture project last year to mine for sand in a 200-acre piece of land in Mukim Tanjong Dua Belas.

The lawyer said his client was also shown a letter purportedly from the Department of Environment (DOE) dated November 18, 2009 sent to Hasan, a director of Infra Penaga Sdn Bhd, to back his claim of having garnered an approved permit for the project and which led to Nice Garden agreeing to the joint-venture, which was sealed on August 20 last year.

The sand miner also believes Hasan had misrepresented himself as the PMs aide in order to win its trust.

But Nice Garden said it found out it had been cheated, after depositing a quarter million ringgit into Hasans personal account, when the DOE letter proved to be fake.

My client believes they have been cheated, Mohammad Fauzi said in open court today.
