‘Voting against Barisan will disrupt country’s development’

KLUANG: Every vote for Barisan Nasional is vital in ensuring continued socio-economic development in Malaysia after the general election, said Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
The MCA president stressed that the coming polls was about the fate of 28 million Malaysians, and not on political parties grabbing power.
"Any slight decline in Barisan's performance will disrupt the momentum of the country's development.
"For investors, especially those from overseas, a country's political stability is important because it is a measure of the investment climate.
"Malaysia's development under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has already gained the recognition of foreign countries and also the IMF (International Monetary Fund," he said at the MCA anniversary celebration here yesterday.
Dr Chua said the facts and figures on the country's development was there for the people to see.
"Please analyse the country's situation in a rational manner before going to the ballot box.
"While Barisan may not be perfect, we know that Barisan, under Najib, can assure continued stability after the elections.
"The Economic Transformation Programme put in place by the Prime Minister is on track and we are projecting between 5% and 5.5% economic growth this year besides creating 300,000 new jobs annually," said Dr Chua, who is a member of the National Economic Council.
He noted that Malaysia had performed better than countries like the United States, Singapore and Japan.
Dr Chua said the people must support the Government so that the country could continue to be strong and not be vulnerable to the economic downturn worldwide.
On Pakatan Rakyat's aim to take over Putrajaya, he said the DAP, PKR and PAS were only out to grab power and disregarded the interests of the people.
"They do not have a common goal and development plans for the country.
"In fact, the coalition is always having internal conflicts because each member has its own agenda," he said, adding that PAS was bent on implementing its brand of hudud, DAP out to mislead the Chinese community to hold on to the Chinese majority seats, and PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim eyeing the Prime Minister's post.
