KUANTAN: Recipients of the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) under the Teruntum state constituency will be receiving the financial aid on Feb 1.
Teruntum assemblyman Datuk Chang Hong Seong said more than 3,000 recipients who had submitted their applications for the aid would receive a notification to attend the presentation ceremony.
"Due to the large number of recipients involved, the presentation would be given out in four batches at the Sultan Ahmad Shah silver jubilee hall in Jalan Teluk Sisek.
"We hope the recipients would turn up according to the time stipulated to minimise waiting time," he said after presenting school aid to parents at SM Tengku Ampuan Afzan here.
Chang said those celebrating the coming Chinese New Year could utilise the allocation to purchase festive goods and help lessen their financial burden.
The second round of BR1M was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the tabling of budget last September.
On the school aid, he said the state government under Pahang Foundation also extended aid to the needy and those from poor family background.
"Students in Forms One, Four and Six who meet the criteria can apply for financial assistance from the foundation," he said.
Chang said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob was all for education and would expedite approval for all deserving cases regardless of race and religion.
