Food aid brings CNY cheer
DESPITE a broken leg, 74-year-old Wong Fook Cheng still made it to the 1Malaysia rice and foodstuff distribution to needy residents at the playground in Jalan Gangsa in Penang.
Accompanied by his wife Tan Kim Poh, 64, Wong said this was the first time they had been named to receive any food distribution.
"To show my appreciation for the gesture, I decided to come with my wife even though I could not receive the foodstuff personally," said Wong.
He waited in the car for his wife to return with the goods.
Wong's left leg was in a cast after he broke it in a fall last year.
Another recipient 84-year-old Cheng Ah Sam was also all smiles after receiving the food aid.

"It will come handy and I can also save a little bit, especially with the Chinese New Year approaching," said Cheng.
Bukit Gelugor Barisan coordinator Datuk Koay Kar Huah said BN leaders had conducted more community activities than the elected MPs or assemblymen from Pakatan Rakyat.
"Even though we are not governing the state, the residents see more of us in their areas than those elected to serve them.
"If you want to vote for an assemblyman, choose someone who can help improve the community's lifestyle," he said.
About 150 people from the Sri Delima constituency benefited from this event organised by MCA Bukit Gelugor division.
