Nizar's changing stand over his allegations regarding the armed forces proves he is intentionally stirring up hatred for his own benefits

With all the hype over the chaos which occurred during Bersih 3.0 with the many accusations of police hard-handedness and of certain agent provocateurs and instigators starting violence among the rally participants, I call on all Malaysians not to be distracted nor forget other misleading information brought about by the Opposition pact.

The accusations by former-Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin that the Prime Minister had met with military officials to discuss the outcome of the coming General Elections has now taken a different twist. Faced with criticisms from various quarters, Nizar had attempted to change his tune by claiming that he was merely seeking clarification over what has been told to him by a man whom he had met at a kenduri in his constituency of Pasir Panjang.

Earlier on, Nizar had confidently accused the Prime Minister of planning something with senior military officers, claiming that the information was relayed to him through a military officer. It was terribly irresponsible of Nizar to make such severe allegations based only on hearsay and without proper proof. According to Berita Harian today, Nizar later claimed that he had assumed that his informer was in the military as there were many sailors in his constituency.

Accusations without proof

Why did Nizar not probe the information from the supposed military personnel? How could he assume that the said person who is a stranger to him is attached the armed forces?

Accusations without proper proof may create severe consequences, and I dare say that the brutal treatment given by the Bersih 3.0 rally protestors towards the police where several policemen had to be hospitalized was probably due to various negative views of the armed forces and security forces painted by Pakatan Rakyat for their own political benefits, including Nizar's recent allegations.

Why he did not bother to check his information before announcing such an audacious statement is beyond me. As a seasoned politician he should have known better, unless he had an ulterior motive in mind, such as taking the opportunity to slander and paint the BN government in a bad light, not only to Malaysians, but to foreigners as well so that BN will be accused of pitching their armed forces against their own people as is the case in both Libya and Syria.

As an organization which has sacrificed so much blood, sweat, and tears to ensure the peacefulness and stability of our country, it is unfair that the military should be painted in such bad light. Their integrity has also served other countries well through their participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.  Thus I urge the public not to be misled by Nizar's fantasy accusations.
