Police move fast on sex video case

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have questioned former Malacca chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik and businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah for allegedly being involved in the sex video, where one of the “actors” resembled Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim having sex with a foreign prostitute.

Bukit Aman police secretary deputy commissioner Ghazali Mohd Amin said two people – without revealing their identity – were arrested briefly before being released on bail pending investigations.

The police have also seized several items that could be used as evidence from the duo.

“One of them even told us where the sex video was filmed and we have sent a forensics team together with investigators to the scene,” he was quoted by The Star online.

The report stated that the two arrested men were Rahim and Shazryl. However online portal Malaysiakini quoted the duo as saying that they were not arrested by the police.

At another event, Inspector General of Police Ismail Omar told reporters that the police were trying to determine the identity of the “actors” in the video and the people behind its recording.

“There are a few things we are looking into right now,” he said, adding that the police would arrest anyone involved in the matter, including the duo, if there was sufficient evidence.

The sex video was exposed on Monday by the Datuk T trio – Rahim, Shazryl and Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim.

They claimed that it had Anwar having sex with a foreign woman, a charge which was denied by Anwar. The PKR leader had then lodged a police report on Tuesday against the people who exposed the video.

Yesterday Rahim and Eskay handed over the original sex video and an Omega wristwatch to the police. They also had their statements recorded.
