"Bung Mokhtar: I was molested , Help !"
Accused of sexism, Bung cries ‘sexual harassment’
Bung had also complained that “when you honk at them, they get agitated with some even showing hand gestures to other drivers.”
“I would like to ask for help from the Speaker because there has been sexual harassment against me,” he said in Parliament today.
Today, Bung condemned Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers for twisting his statements and criticised Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil for failing clarify the facts with him.
Shahrizat has described Bung’s statement against women drivers as completely uncalled for and offensive.
According to Bung, Shahrizat should have approached him on the matter before commenting.
“She only read the Hansard and only answered to what the reporters told her,” he added.
He said that women must not misunderstand his statement because he was only voicing his concern about their safety on the road.
Sri Gading MP Datuk Mohamad Aziz also expressed support for Bung, saying the lawmaker had never intended to offend anyone.
“Thank you for the explanations from my friends because we all love women,” he said.
Bung was previously guilty of making offensive comments to a female opposition leader MP in 2007 after she complained about a leak in the Parliament’s roof.
He had then retorted, “Where’s the leak? She leaks every month, too.”
