MACC man says altered investigation diary to match colleagues story

KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 An anti-graft officer admitted today that he amended his investigation diary on Teoh Beng Hock after consulting his colleague to come up with a consistent story, the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) investigating Teohs death heard today.Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) senior assistant superintendent Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said he wrote a second investigation diary before the RCI started last month, but did not specify the date.I put it to you that you made additions in the second ID (investigation diary) to co-ordinate the story after discussing with other officers, asked Bar Council lawyer Cheow Wee at the inquiry today.Nazri paused before answering: Not with other officers; with the IO (MACC investigating officer Mohd Anuar Ismail).Nazri insisted, however, that he made his second diary more detailed because he wanted to tell the truth about the events surrounding Teohs mysterious death on July 16, 2009.I just asked the IO about the time, said Nazri, 35.Teoh was found sprawled on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after he was questioned overnight by MACC officers at their then-Selangor headquarters on the 14th floor.The anti-graft officers were investigating a claim that Teohs boss Ean Yong Hian Wah was abusing state funds.Ean Yong is a Selangor state executive councillor and Seri Kembangan assemblyman from the DAP.MORE TO COME
