Teresa Kok must disclose ALL agreements, information & not play selective

31 July, MCA HQ – Owing to the contradictory positions put forward by DAP's elected representatives Tony Pua and Selangor exco Teresa Kok, MCA urges Teresa Kok and the Pakatan-led Selangor state to fully disclose every agreement signed between the Selangor administration, its subsidiary agencies or state government-linked firms with Talam Corporation. This point was driven home by MCA Young Professionals Chairman Datuk Chua Tee Yong at a press conference convened at the Council Chamber of Wisma MCA.

"Tony Pua had repeatedly mentioned that under BN, no effort is being carried out to collect the debts from Talam and the debts are hidden" remarked Tee Yong before pointing out the contradiction by the Selangor exco Teresa Kok who in her press release had claimed that the Selangor state government was tied to all agreements which Talam had signed with BN.

Teresa Kok selective disclosure of information and agreements

To a reporter's question, on what the agreement dated 12 March 2006 entailed considering there were debt settlement agreements dated 29 July 2005 and 8 March 2007, Tee Yong informed that "that is the sales and purchase agreement which Teresa Kok mentioned in statement. However, she did not disclose the validity of the agreement, she didn't disclose if it is concluded or if the assets were transferred. She did not disclose the whole extent of the agreement to reporters."

Given that the 8 March 2007 agreement has lapsed and no longer binds the Selangor state government it, despite Teresa Kok misleading the public into believing that they were still tied to it, the MCA Member of Parliament for Labis then had the following advice for the DAP Selangor exco.

"My advice is, since she says they are bound by the previous agreement, they should disclose all agreements to prove what they said. Today, I disclose that the agreement made on 8 March 2007 expired on 8 March 2008. Thus, they should not be bound by previous agreement by BN government."

He accentuated that "Teresa Kok should reveal all agreements to show Pakatan is tied to agreements signed by BN. For full details of assets, should ask Teresa Kok because she claims that all agreements are binding them."

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries also pointed out that
"this is the first time we are hearing about agreements which were never mentioned in state assembly."

To a question regarding a first payment done in 2005, Tee Yong remarked, "whether there is a first payment I didn't  say and she didn't disclose. The new agreement which the Selangor government entered into – how does 2007 which expired in 2008, how does it bind them in 2010?

While Teresa Kok has defended the Selangor state government's purchase of Talam assets pinning blame on the previous BN administration, Tee Yong nevertheless alerted "she says that whatever assets she buys now is due to previous government… She did mention that all sales and purchase agreements were signed on 12 Jan 2006. Did she say it was concluded or transferred in 2006? She didn't tell full story so that fair for public to understand what is happening. Since she says she is bound by agreement, she should support her statement with the agreement."

Still no White Paper

Meanwhile, Selangor MCA Secretary YB Wong Koon Mun raised the issue of the yet-to-be-released White Paper which Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had promised would be ready in 2010.

"The state government should disclose agreement in 2010. They promised to disclose the White Paper in 2010. It is already 2 years!"

Other MCA leaders present at the press conference were office bearers from the Selangor MCA State Liaison Committee.
