MCA VP- DAP should have debate on PAS’ hudud law instead of running away

MCA VP- DAP should have debate on PAS' hudud law instead of running away

PAS spiritual advisor Dato' Nik Abdul Aziz has finally responded, and it is no surprise that he has professed his party's unflinching stand to implement hudud law despite the disagreement by DAP. Thus, I strongly urge DAP to immediately organize a debate on this matter so as to allow the public to decide on whether or not they should continue to support PAS and their hudud agenda.

All this while DAP has been downplaying MCA's worries, claiming that they will keep PAS in balance. However, as more and more issues come to light, including the many cases which have occurred in Pakatan-ruled states, we see that DAP is unable to stop PAS from enforcing its hardline policies. Has DAP decided to keep silent and to keep their noses out of these problems?

DAP still will not respond to MCA's questions

Until today, DAP continues to evade answering MCA's questions, which are firstly, can DAP guarantee that hudud law will not affect the Chinese community and other non-Muslims, and secondly, whether or not hudud law will have a negative impact on our nation's social, economic, political and educational system?

Since DAP has chosen to not respond to MCA's two simple questions, DAP should then have a debate on PAS' plans of establishing a theocratic Islamic state and the implementation of hudud law so that voters will be aware of the pros and cons and are able to judge for themselves which side is the better choice. Pakatan has to let the voters know what the consequences are instead of displaying ignorance.

While DAP has repeatedly said that everything must be based on the Buku Jingga, it is obvious that PAS holds a different viewpoint as they have said that hudud law and the establishment of a theocratic state should be expected of them and as such, it need not be included in the Buku Jingga as it has already been set out in their party's constitution.

Thus, it is important for the Chinese community to remember MCA's warnings; that a vote for DAP is a vote for PAS and an Islamic state, and regardless of whether or not the Chinese community and non-Muslims support or oppose it, PAS will ultimately be the party which determines the establishment of a theocratic regime.
