Press Statement by MCA Youth Federal Territory Chief YB Senator Chiew Lian Keng, JP
Both Kit Siang and Guan Eng should state their stand on Dr Mahfodz dismissal of Karpal's claims
Both the DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng and the DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang should make their stand clear on whether or not they support or are against the remarks of the PAS Syura Council regarding the implementation of hudud law. If they both disagree with PAS, they should then condemn Dr Mahfodz Mohamed, but if they are in agreement they should then urge Karpal to continue discussions on hudud as well as apologize to all non-Muslims for misleading them.
DAP should be rebuked because in order to obtain Chinese votes, DAP deliberately remarked that PAS leaders had affirmed that the party would pursue the welfare state. DAP leaders have never opposed PAS' Islamic state agenda, but have instead misled the Chinese community into having confidence in PAS, and deliberately concealed and convinced the non-Muslim community to accept PAS hudud law.
PAS syura council member Dato' Dr Mahfodz Mohamad was yesterday reported to have denied Karpal's commitment that PAS was abandoning its Islamic state agenda. No DAP leader came to support Karpal, leaving their Chairman all alone when the Johor PAS Commissioner ridiculed him. This indicates that DAP party leaders prefer to play it safe and will not dare offend PAS.
PAS has never given up their intention to establish a hardline state using PAS hudud law. DAP merely served as a catalyst for PAS to curry favours from non-Muslim voters to support PAS.
Although DAP echelon continue to verbally guarantee a secular state, PAS will never forsake their dream to turn Malaysia into an Islamic state nation. Dr Mahfodz has already shown that Karpal was mistaken in claiming that PAS had agreed to abandon PAS hudud law as part of their compromise with DAP and PKR.
It is not that DAP has "misunderstood" PAS position, but DAP was not forthright in continuing to deceive voters by claiming that PAS had abandoned its aspiration to enforce PAS hudud law, in order to cover up Pakatan's incompetence and pawn the rights and freedoms of non-Muslims.
