Penang opposition leader hospitalised

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 Datuk Azhar Ibrahim was hospitalised with breathing difficulties this morning, shortly before he was to have ended his six-month absence from the Penang state assembly today.According to theStar online, the state opposition leader began experiencing respiratory issues at home and was later rushed to a hospital in Butterworth, where he was admitted into intensive care.He has since been transferred to the general ward.Azhar was scheduled to make his return to the Penang assembly today, following his suspension by the assemblys Rights and Privileges Committee, who found him guilty of violating the standing order by uttering seditious words during an exchange with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng last May.In 2009, the Umno leader was also suspended for allegedly showing his buttocks to PKR assemblyman Sim Tze Tzin on December 2, 2009 which he had refused to apologise for.The Penang Umno liaison secretary claimed the incident was misinterpreted.The current state assembly session will run for five days beginning from today.
