Shahrizat: I will not respond, as I have nothing to do with the NFC issue - Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR: Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today said she had nothing to do with the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) issue.

Hence, the Wanita Umno chief said, at the Umno General Assembly this week, she would not respond on the NFC issue which had been raised by the opposition.

"I will not clarify (on the NFC issue) but there will be two messages I would like to convey at the Wanita Umno assembly to those outside. Let's wait.

As a leader, we need to be patient and calm, and not get easily hysterical.

"If anyone wants to ask about the NFC, they should ask the NFC people. I will only be focusing on Wanita Umno," she said at a news conference in conjunction with the upcoming Umno General Assembly 2011 at the Putra World Trade Centre, here, today.

Shahrizat said she would, however, not stop any delegate from debating on the NFC issue at the Wanita Umno assembly this Wednesday.

The Auditor-General's Report 2011 stated that the NFC was in a mess and had failed to fulfil the objectives of its establishnment, while the opposition has alleged misappropriation of the RM250 million government allocation for the NFC, whose executive chairman is Shahrizat's husband, Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail.

"In politics, which (party) does not have problems? Moreover, the opposition fears Wanita Umno's strength and unity and would try to shake it. But thank God, Umno and Wanita Umno are still solidly strong.

"Our faith, our sincerity are unbending. We will not easily get rattled no matter what the opposition tries to do because we are sincere in our struggle for the religion, people and country," Shahrizat said.

Also present at the news conference was Wanita Umno vice-chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim.
