Witness corroborates Azamuddin's story

A motorcyclist and two friends chased the car driven by Aminulrasyid after it hit another car in Section 7, Shah Alam.

A witness in the trial involving the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah has corroborated what prime eyewitness Azamuddin Omar, 15, had told media days after the event.

NONER Lokman Hakim R Daily told the Shah Alam Sessions Court that he and two other friends had got on their motorcycles at about 12.15am and chased the car driven by Aminulrasyid after it hit his friend's Toyota Celica which was parked on the roadside near Ali Corner at Section 7, Shah Alam.

“A white Proton Iswara damaged the front bumper, so we chased it to demand compensation,” he testified.

Answering DPP Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, Lokman Hakim said he and two friends had chased the Iswara through Sections 7, 8, 9 to Persiaran Dato Menteri where he fell off his bike and the car sped off.

According to Lokman Hakim, the Iswara was about 2km ahead before they started giving chase and had only sped up at Section 8 when the driver noticed that he was being tailed.

"My estimated speed was about 120km per hour while the car was going about 100km per hour...it slowed down a little at traffic lights and junctions. All the (traffic) lights were red and the car ran them all," he said.

However, there were no other vehicles on the road at the "five or six" traffic light intersections except for the one at the crossroads near Concorde Hotel, but the cars on the lane with a green light had already passed.

"At Persiaran DatoNONE Menteri the car started to slow down because the road was uphill, and I tried to overtake to get a look at the driver," he said.

But he fell as he was trapped in a tight space between the road divider on the right and the Iswara on the left, and wanted to avoid hitting either.

"I got a glance of the driver, around the right shoulder. The driver was male, based on his hand, but I figured he was about 17-year-old, a kid, because his body was small. I couldn't really see him because he was small and the driver's seat was big.

"There was just one passenger in the car. He was thin, slightly built. About the same age as the driver," he said, testifying also that he would not be able to recognise the boy in person.

After he fell, Lokman Hakim's friends stopped giving chase and took him to the hospital where he received treatment for abrasions on his arms and knee.

He added that he lodged a police report about the incident about 2.30am on April 26 at the Section 11 police station.

More eyewitnesses

Lokman will take the stand again when the trial resumes tomorrow at 8.30am.

azlanAlso expected to testify are eyewitnesses from Ali Corner.

Azamuddin is listed as a prosecution witness but he has yet to be called to testify.

At a press conference in April, the Form Three student said that Aminulrasyid was speeding because he was scared after damaging his sister's car, after it grazed a car near Ali Corner, and that his friend panicked further when he realised they were chased by motorcyclists.

He claimed that Aminulrasyid was rushing towards his home in Section 14.

The Iswara crashed some 500m from the house and Aminulrasyid was found in a pool of blood on the driver's seat.

Korporal Jenain Subi, 48, faces a fine and 30 years in jail if convicted of culpable homicide.
