Health minister's denial of Tee Keat ban deplorable

R Chandran

I refer to your article titled “Liow: Tee Keat 'imagined' hospital ban” on Nov 15, 2010.

Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai's response is simply deplorable as he appeared evasive and arrogant by attributing the exclusion of Ong Tee Keat from the list of invitees at the official opening of Ampang Hospital to Ong's sheer imagination.

This is tantamount to implying Ong is a sick man. What unkind innuendoes from the minister.

Nonetheless, his denial syndrome simply does not hide the fact that it was the directive of the minister's office to the hospital management to exclude Ong from the list.

This was made known to the Persatuan Sukarelawan Hospital Ampang whose committee members were appalled by such a decision.

Liow had made a hasty conclusion even before he could probe the matter. His evasiveness and arrogant denial syndrome has exposed his ugly handling of such a protocol-linked issue, and also his attempts to sabotage the services of not only a Barisan Nasional (BN) comrade but also his own party comrade.

Liow is clearly a selfish politician who has no interest for the BN, his party and the country in general. He is not only a backstabber to his friend but is now treating Ong worse than an opposition MP.
