Selangor DAP’s State Polls: Dictator Rules
By Susan Lim
We have seen the worst out of PKR’s election. With fictitious figures, invincible voters and open protest by its members and leaders, it’s just amazing how the President and the Advisor of the party could just ignore and keep moving ahead as if they had just slipped over a small rock.
By giving an ‘extraordinary’ speech during the PKR Congress, Anwar is indirectly telling the members that they can shout, cry, bark, jump or set themselves on fire all they want and Anwar won’t give a damn about them. This is how Anwar leads and this is how PKR would lead Malaysia should they be given the mandate.
Similarly, Selangor DAP too, had put up an interesting performance in their state poll yesterday. Though not as chaotic as PKR’s election, but the Selangor DAP poll managed to give us a hint that there are much more than just a shade of darkness that is hovering the party.
There is no disguising the fact that DAP members aren’t very happy with some decisions made by the leaders. One of the issues that is haunting DAP is the sacking of Tee Boon Hock. The grassroots keep bringing the matter up for a debate though the motion was turned down every time it was raised.
Finally, the effort to bring up Tee’s sacking for discussion was proved to be hopeless as the leaders remained unmoved and refused to talk about it right until the end of the day.
What more interesting to note is that Theresa Kok is now the Selangor DAP’s chairman – a news received by the members with sighs and question marks. She came in 11th in the state party poll though being openly endorsed by Emperor Lim.
Obviously, the grassroots are desperately trying to make themselves heard that they don’t like to be dictated by even the Emperor himself.
Ronnie Liu, a much controversial figure who is said to be linked to gangsters, nightclubs, abuse of power and also the main character anticipated by the public to be involved one way or another in the murder of Teoh Beng Hock, has been shown to the door by the grassroots.
Liu, though is said to be favoured by the top leaders had been jeered by the grassroots when introduced as one of the candidates. At least, the grassroots managed to oust him through their votes, a privilege that PKR members can never enjoy.
A DAP veteran, K.N. Chandran told the Star that DAP has never faced anything even remotely similar to the current turn of events where loyalties and supports enjoyed by the leaders are decreasing dramatically.
It is just a matter of time when the grassroots of Selangor DAP will be just a few inches away from running amok like the PKR’s.
They are tired of being led by dictators who treat the parties like their family business.
Now everything that these party has been accusing UMNO and BN of, are the very things that they themselves are doing all along.
This is a hard evidence of the forever messed-up coalition of Pakatan Rakyat. They messed-up big just fighting among their own parties. Imagine them having to fight each other in the name of a coalition….
So it’s true then that the farther the date of the next General Election, the worse it gets for Pakatan Rakyat. It is never easy to live a lie for so long and pretend to be fighting for a good course when you are actually fighting for a bad course. Sooner or later, the devil inside them needs to come out and they can’t stop it..…It’s now up to us to look and see.
