Former Bukit Bintang MCA division chief Dr Lee Chong Meng's status in PKR was finally confirmed publicly today when he attended the PKR national congress as a division delegate. lee chong meng pkr agmLee said that he is recognised as the division chief and was among 12 delegates from the division present at the party congress in Petaling Jaya today. When approached by reporters, Lee was proudly displaying his delegate accreditation card to prove his status in the party. Lee, a veterinarian and popularly known as 'Doctor Ayam', said that the controversy over his status as a PKR member was caused by his rivals. "In the past, there were party leaders who questioned by qualifications as a member... it's a small issue. Some leaders caused a stir in the media. "Nevertheless, I have never received any letter from the party headquarters questioning me," he said. NONELee was sacked from MCA on Oct 5 over allegations of financial impropriety. Following this, he had given the press three different dates for his entry to PKR - sometime in January, Sept 25 and Oct 7. His PKR membership came into question when he contested and won the Bukit Bintang PKR division chief's post. Under party rules, a member is not allowed to contest for party posts unless he has been with the party for six months. Some PKR leaders are upset over Lee's purported membership due to his unfavourable past. Some have even claimed that Lee had previously committed domestic violence. In the earlier event, some venues saw the police outnumbering the participants who had simply been invited to celebrate over some cake. However, no untoward incidents were reported. "Is this wrong?
