Police foil car robbery attempt

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 Police managed to foil an attempt to rob a Genting Highlands casino manager of his Honda Civic car when he stopped at a 7-Eleven shop in Sri Kembangan here today.The managers woman companion, however, lost RM500 after the money which she kept in her handbag was grabbed by four robbers who were armed with machetes and axes.The 30-year-old manager told reporters at Sri Kembangan police station that he and the woman were attacked by the robbers who came in another car when he stopped at the shop at 2.15am.The robbers had earlier followed us from the Jalan Kuda Emas roundabout. On reaching the convenience shop, the four rushed at my car and pulled me out after smashing the windshield and drove away with it, he said.However, half an hour later a police patrol car saw the car and followed the robbers from Jalan Puncak Jalil Empat.According to Serdang police chief Supt Abdul Razak Elias, on realising that they were being chased by the police, the robbers slowed down, jumped out of the moving car and ran into nearby bushes.A manhunt has been launched to track down the four suspects.
