Muhyiddin: PKR, please don't talk cock ...
Muhyiddin: Name PKR election saboteurs
“If they have issues or problems, they have to bear the responsibility themselves... Do not blame others. That problem is their problem,” the deputy prime minister said.
“I challenge Saifuddin to give proof. Tell us who and where, if by ‘outsiders’ they mean us (Barisan Nasional).”
PKR amended its constitution last year allowing all 450,000 of its members to vote for divisional leaders and the 25 members of the central leadership council, including the president, deputy president and four vice-presidents.
The party’s 218 divisions will hold two separate meetings: One for the annual general meeting and election of divisional leaders, and a second meeting to vote for national leaders.
The divisions will vote for national leaders over several weekends, from October 29 to November 21.
However, the election has been marred by instances of violence, which Saifuddin yesterday blamed on non-members acting deliberately to cause chaos in order to paint PKR as being unable to conduct its direct election.
Muhyiddin reiterated his stand that the problems faced by PKR in conducting the election were proof that the party did not walk the talk when it came to openness, transparency and democracy.
“When I read statements by blocked candidates and Zaid Ibrahim’s big statement in Utusan, it becomes very obvious that even though they (PKR) fight for the principles of justice, they are not a just party.
“They restrict, they block, they do not give freedom (to candidates),” he said, claiming that the opposition party was controlled by two or three rival factions.
