New presidents installed for clubs
IT WAS the night for the presidents of the Sitiawan Lions and Lioness Clubs presidents to pass the baton to their successors.
Lion P.S.R. Krishnasamy and Lioness B. Tirlok Devi were elected as the presidents of the Lions and Lioness Clubs respectively, for the fiscal year 2012-2013.
Krishnasamy said he looked forward to receiving continued support from the members in order to reach out to the needy and the less fortunate.

"With the history of our close cooperation and support from all members of our clubs, we are confident of achieving this objective," he said after being installed as the 40th president of the club at Bei King Restaurant, recently.
Tirlok Devi, the 34th Sitiawan Lioness Club president, who was also installed that night, said the Lionesses would work hand in hand with the Lions to bring joy to the underprivileged.
"We enjoy doing our services according to the district theme 'Service with courtesy, compassionate and courage' and in return become a 'Beacon of Hope' to the community," she said.
Krishnasamy and Tirlok Devi, who had succeeded the immediate past presidents Joshua Liew Shoon Fong and V. Nesamalar respectively, were installed by the second vice district governor Ooi Chao Syuan.
The night also saw past district governor Dr V. Jeganathan performing the induction ceremony to welcome three new members, Dr M. Sundrasan, Dr M. Subra-maniam and M. Jaganathan, to the club.
Lumut MP Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, who was present at the event, also presented the Lion and Lioness of The Year awards to A Naidu and R.G. Nandini, respectively.
Kong said members of the clubs need to be passionate about serving the community and be attentive to their needs, just like the people's representatives.
"I hope the clubs will continue to progress and be a blessing to the people," said Kong, who is also Transport Minister.
