Chua: Johoreans will back BN

JOHOR BARU: MCA is optimistic that Johoreans will continue their support for the Barisan Nasional.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman had worked hard to meet the people to solve their problems.

Another positive aspect was the strong unity among the state MCA leaders, he added.

There is greater awareness among the state Barisan leaders to defend Johor as the Barisan and MCA stronghold, he said here yesterday.

In a speech at another event, Dr Chua urged restaurant operators to improve their businesses to attract the younger generation.

Youths choose to eat at modern cafes which had ambience, service and hygiene, he said at the launch of the Grand Bayview Seafood Restaurants new seafood outdoor dining concept here on Tuesday.

At another function in KUANTAN, Dr Chua said the MCA was willing to be the intermediary between the Government and the Save Malaysia, Stop Lynas group in a bid to find amicable solution to the proposed rare earth facility in Gebeng here.

He told the group that they were required to write a letter listing their suggestions and requests before it was to be submitted to the Government.

Dr Chua said he had met with the groups chairman Tan Bun Teet, who claimed that they had no channel to air their grouses or views on the matter.

I gave him the assurance that MCA is willing to be the medium between the group and Government under one condition for it not to be politicised, he told reporters after opening the new block of SJK(C) Pei Chai here yesterday.
