Soi Lek: BN Must Be More Aggressive In Facing Opposition
KUALA TERENGGANU, July 29 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) can no longer be defensive when facing Opposition parties which were more aggresive when displaying its deeds to the public.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said the opposition liked to use Penang and Selangor as examples of their success, especially concerning welfare but forgot that the performances of Kelantan and Kedah were unsatisfactory.
He said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was proud of the allocation of RM100 a year for senior citizens when the Federal Government set aside RM300 a month to the poor to the tune of RM440 million a year.
He said, since taking over the administration of Penang and Selangor, the opposition had not implemented low-cost housing projects to help the poor in the states.
"In terms of promotion, they are indeed competent, but in terms of working, they have a lot to improve upon," he told reporters after opening the Terengganu MCA Youth/Wanita Convention 2011 here today.
In this context, Dr Chua said MCA leaders must explain to the grassroots what the BN government did, and not just something which was carried out only during an election, in the interest the people.
He said the party was ready to face the 13th General Election and had mobilised its machinery nationwide.
"We are confident of the Chinese support for MCA but this differs in certain areas where the voters also evaluate the candidates, and not just the party," he said.
tunku : it is a must do for all BN component parties but right now only Umno in full speed in doing that while the rest in relax mode. they should start going to the ground day and night now.time is limited as the GE is coming closer and closer.do not let the pm do everything for BN, every party leaders should take the responsibilities.
