Hair-cutting case at NS camp resolved

GUA MUSANG, Jan 29 The case involving a 17-year-old Sikh trainee whose hair was cut off while he was asleep at a National Service (NS) camp in Penang is now resolved, the NS Training Department said.Its director-general Datuk Abdul Hadi Awang Kechik said the trainees family has agreed to transfer their son to the Sungkai camp in Perak and allowed to report after Chinese New Year.He added that the trainee was given a break after the incident.We discussed with the parents about whether the trainee should remain at Seri Impian camp or move to another camp but he cannot withdraw from training, he told reporters after visiting the Etnobotani Gua Musang camp, near here.In the incident on January 16, Basant Singh, 18, from Perak, woke up to find his hair had been cut.Abdul Hadi said the department viewed the matter seriously.The matter was now with the police following a report lodged by the trainees parents, he said.
