Threats, gratitude and goodies in Merlimau

via email Malacca CM Mohd Ali Rustam's message to the Kampung Lipat Kajang residents is, 'vote for BN or life could be difficult'. He may have said it with a smile on his face but Malacca chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam's message to the residents of Kampung Lipat Kajang could hardly be interpreted in any other way - vote for BN or life could be difficult. "If you vote for PAS you're throwing your vote away. What have they done to help (you)? threats, gratitude and goodies in Merlimau"(In 2008 this polling district) gave (about) 190 votes to PAS and now you are asking me for help, so I can't work as hard for you. I'd be better off watching movies with my wife," he said. Jokingly, he added that if the polling district is found to have given more than 100 votes to PAS again, he will trace those who did so. This was not the first time Mohd Ali, who is also BN Merlimau by-election director posed a veiled threat to the constituents, as the 'I he...

'Opposition not interested in helping bumi land owners'

via email Sarawak CM Taib Mahmud says the opposition is instigating them to believe that the government wants to seize their land. Opposition parties had no genuine interest to fight for the betterment of bumiputera land owners in Sarawak, Chief Minister Taib Mahmud said in Bintulu today. He said the opposition merely tried to confuse the land owners by instigating them to believe the government wanted to seize their land. bn supreme council mt meeting sapp sabah issue 190608 taib mahmudOpening the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) eighth annual general assembly here, he said the state BN had always recognised the rights of bumiputera landowners. Taib cited a case in the 1980s where the government had to revise its decision over a piece of land which was eventually found to be native land belonging to residents of Rumah Panjang Chang, a longhouse located in the Niah sub-district near Miri. He said although the land was earlier given to a developer for plantation purposes, he ...

Old-style politics and Utusan are on the way out

From Aruna, via e-mail I refer to your report, ‘Zunar tears up Utusan with words’. Well said Zunar. Utusan is in every word an Umno newletter. It’s only mission is to portray Umno as the single party that could rule this country and its main objective is to run down any opposition to it. What the world is witnessing is the demise of political parties that were born during the pre and post World War II period. Umno, MCA and MIC are in this category and in a precarious position despite the fact that they are putting up a brave front. People all over the world are fighting for change and are discarding old-style politics. Even if Umno survives the next federal election, they and their component parties will not be able to sustain their power for long. The only way BN can survive is by becoming a single political party rather then a coalition of parties. Sarawak will lead the way to the demise of BN. Utusan will have to face reality and accept professional journ...

Shame on you Anwar! You’re such a bad liar

From My Oh My, via e-mail Anwar Ibrahim is such a bad liar. He had to so in order to protect PKR’s already damaged reputation. Earlier this week, Fuziah Salleh (PKR’s vice president) claimed that she’s the one who came up with the KPI, which was well designed according to international standards. She underlined several guidelines that must be adhered to by all MPs. And from the report produced, seven of PKR’s MPs including Azmin Ali, Anwar Ibrahim’s wingman failed to achieve their target. This was already reported and the public agreed that the seven were indeed not doing their job. Anwar’s claim reflects that PKR is hiding something behind its back. It indicates how not transparent the party is. Shame on you Anwar! Also read: Anwar: KPI audit report doesn’t exist

Mamak: UMNO Kicked ME Out Even Without People's Power ... That's Much Credibility I Have. And I Am A MamakLay ... Hehehe

CHANGING REGIME from Che Det by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad 1.The people of Tunisia and Egypt have overthrown their Governments. A number of people have been killed in the process. More will follow before the uprisings will be over. Now comes the problem of setting up new Governments which would make the struggle and the sacrifices worthwhile. If the new Governments fail then all the struggles and sacrifices would have been in vain. 2.I am sure that the people would want to see a democratic Government, a Government of the people, by the people, for the people. 3.This sounds great but Government by the people will not be so easy. You cannot have the people directly governing themselves. You will need to have a new constitution and political parties which will enable representatives of the people to form the Government. For this, elections will have to be held. Unfortunately elections can be manipulated. 4.There will be a rush to grab for power by nationalists and by opportunists. It will...
