Tian Chua has gone too far in belittling the sacrifice of 8 of our policemen
Time and time again Pakatan leaders have always insulted our Malaysian community. Even when their recent manifesto had ignored the Indian community, PKR strategist Rafizi Ramli had even refused to apologise by claiming that their manifesto transcends racial barriers despite the fact that it clearly caters to other communities.
The police have also been favourite targets of Pakatan leaders for them to gain popularity, but the recent slander by PKR Batu MP Tian Chua that the invasion of Lahad Datu by foreigners is masterminded by UMNO to intimidate the people is clearly the last straw.
It is not only preposterous to insinuate that our government is willing to endanger our nation's dignity and sovereignty, but that it is also willing to sacrifice its citizens simply for its own political gains. Tian Chua has clearly crossed the line as he has insulted the brave and noble sacrifice of 8 of our policemen and their families, as well as their fellow comrade-in-arms who are, even as we speak, still risking their lives in answering the call of duty by fighting off these intruders.
Despite our political differences, I would have thought better of Tian Chua who is an elected lawmaker. For him to continue politicizing such events and tragedies is simply shooting himself in the foot. As fellow Malaysians, we must all stand firm side by side and disregard any political or ideological differences we may have whenever our nation is threatened, and this is what transcends racial barriers, not Pakatan's manifesto.
Instead of trying to politicize issues, Pakatan should also play their part in recognizing the sacrifice of these brave men such as raising funds for families of the departed. These men have answered the call of duty without fear or favour to defend our nation's sovereignty and as such their ultimate sacrifice should be respected and honoured.
