MB of S'gor & ADUN of Ijok, yet Khalid Ibrahim neglects housing needs of his very own constituency

I am saddened that YAB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, not only in his exalted portfolio of Menteri Besar of Selangor, but as the elected state Assemblyman for Ijok can completely desert the pressing housing needs and welfare of his very own electorate which had elected him into power.

New Straits Times (4 Mar 2013) reports that the Pakatan state government had intervened, confiscated the land and refused to allow the handover of keys and certificate of fitness (CF) to buyers of 2,500 housing units which were abandoned in Ijok but were ultimately revived by the federal-run Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB).

It was further reported that the same scenario had befallen five apartment blocks in Bandar Alam Perdana and another low cost project involving 46 homes in Taman Khalid Al-Walid, Kota Kemuning.

No hopes of keeping to Pakatan Manifesto when Pakatan didn't stick to Barisan Alternatif 2008 Manifesto

The three scenarios above once again prove that the Pakatan-helmed state administration has reneged on their 2008 Barisan Alternatif Manifesto which had vowed to "assist every Selangor citizen to obtain his own residence." But then again, given MB Khalid's infamous quote that "a manifesto is not a promise", voters should be weary of Pakatan's empty promises which further cement their insincerity in their chase for power.

Withholding the keys and CF also further indicates the failure of the Pakatan government to address housing problems like ensuring home ownership as their 2008 Manifesto had promised to; skyrocketing house prices in Selangor which cause affordable housing beyond the reach of ordinary Selangor citizens; failure to construct low cost and medium cost housing for lower income groups.

In view that 90% of the Barisan Alternatif 2008 Manifesto was not delivered, the rakyat can only expect another round of unfulfilled promises despites the high profile launch of the Pakatan Manifesto last week.

BN contributes towards Pakatan-led states where Pakatan fail to deliver

The Barisan Nasional government, contrary to all the false accusations which Pakatan has hammered at us, does not ignore states ruled by our opponents. The very fact that SPNB has restored abandoned housing projects in Selangor shows that BN has never and will never ditch the needs of voters who reside in Pakatan seats and states.

Another example of the Putrajaya's allocation for the Selangor Pakatan administration is the MARRIS (Malaysian Road Records Information System) allocation for road maintenance in the last 4 years but hardly any road works were carried out. Only now that the general election is around the corner is the state government using the federal funds for road repairs.

Extension of freeze on federal government projects?

One cannot help but be reminded of MB Khalid's instruction just slightly over a week ago where he ordered that all federal government projects be frozen and reviewed. The Pakatan state government by not permitting the house keys and CF to be released to the affected unit purchasers shows their callousness and perhaps even immaturity and jealousy against BN's success in completing the projects where they botched up, but ultimately punish the victims in the end.

Nevertheless I urge the Menteri Besar not to make the Ijok unit buyers to be scapegoats of your state government's and local council's inefficiency. Cease blocking the house handover and issue the keys and CF at once.
