PM: United we stand
IPOH: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has reminded Malaysians to think of unity when tossing the yee sang this Chinese New Year.
Speaking at the Perak MCA Chinese New Year open house here yesterday, the Prime Minister said the closing of ranks should take place among Barisan Nasional component parties and within their individual parties.
"We must be a unified force. Only a house that is united can stand the challenges and tests that we will face in the coming general election.

"There is an English saying that a house divided will fall', which means that if we are divided, we will fall," he said.
Najib said, in order to obtain the people's mandate, Barisan component parties and their members should work hard and lay down the right strategies.
"Working hard is a pre-requisite, which is one of the reasons we had a gathering in Sitiawan, and we saw some 60,000 people in attendance on Saturday.
"That is the measure of the hard work we put in to build the people's confidence in us, to build the people's trust in the Government," he said.
Najib also told those present not to be fooled by the approach or methods employed by the Opposition to gain votes.
"When you are in the Opposition, your main weapon is to make promises.
"It doesn't matter if the promises will be kept, as long as you can promise the sun, the moon and the galaxy. That to them, is their most important weapon," he said.
The people, he said, did not want empty promises but an effective government that could deliver.
"And I give my commitment to you all, that it is exactly what Barisan will do and can do if we get the mandate from the rakyat once again," said Najib, who was welcomed to the open house by MCA president and Perak MCA chief Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and other state leaders.
