Musa: Anwar May Be Blackmailed By Karpal
Pakatan Rakyat leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim may be "blackmailed" by DAP national chairman Karpal Singh, said Penang Umno information chief Senator Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir.
Musa made his comment based on a disclosure by Wangsa Maju member of parliament Wee Choo Keong in his blog.
Musa said Wee had insinuated that Karpal, who is Anwar's counsel in the ongoing sodomy trial, knew the "truth" about the Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader's involvement in the case.
"If what Wee said is true, then this is sad because Anwar is being used as kuda tunggangan (taken for a ride) by Karpal, who knows his secret.
"Thus, Karpal will delay Anwar's trial till the next general election. Karpal will then blackmail Anwar to follow his whims."
He said in the case of Penang, this would cause Anwar, by virtue of being opposition leader, to agree to DAP's demands for the allocation of more seats in the next general election.
"The Malays in Penang will lose out and Penang will eventually be like Singapore."
He added that this might also be the reason for Anwar to come up with the statement that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang would be made deputy prime minister should Pakatan win the general election.
Musa hoped that PKR and Pas members would open their eyes and realise these possibilities.
"I hope that they will think about this revelation as PKR and Pas are now becoming victims. They have high hopes of him leading them but he is being controlled by Karpal and DAP."
In yesterday's report, Wee accused Karpal of flip-flopping over Anwar's sodomy allegations.
"In 1997, Karpal told a crowd at a DAP gathering in Federal Hotel that he had proof to confirm Anwar was involved in sodomy.
"Now, Karpal is in his defence team."
Wee said former PKR supreme council member Datuk Zaid Ibrahim had alluded to Karpal's role in the sodomy trials of Anwar, saying that while Karpal was now representing the opposition leader in court, it was he who had earlier been convinced of Anwar's guilt.
